The Pii sun was an older red giant located in the Pii system. The system, along with the sun, was situated in the Arkanis sector of the Outer Rim Territories. The sun was orbited by two asteroid fields and seven planets. The latter included two fiery rock planets, two forested worlds, a barren planet, one gas giant, and a frozen planet.
Description
The Pii sun was an older red giant situated in the Pii system of the Arkanis sector,[2] in the Slice portion of the Outer Rim Territories.[1] Along with the rest of the Pii system, the sun was a seven-day hyperspace journey away from the Perlemian Trade Route[2] and rested along the Old Corellian Run and the Trans Gulf Route hyperlanes.[1]
The Pii sun, along with the rest of its system, was originally located on the super-hyperroute known as the Corellian Run. When that route changed its course[1] at some time between 11,000 BBY and 4000 BBY[3] and as a result no longer ran through the Pii system, the sun remained on the Old Corellian Run.[1]
The sun was orbited by seven planets and two asteroid fields. The first planet and Pii II—the second planet—were balls of fiery rock. The third and fourth planets, Pii III and Pii IV respectively, were forested. The sun's fifth planet was barren, and the sixth planet was a gas giant. The seventh planet was frozen. Two large but mineral-poor asteroid fields also circled the sun. The first orbited between Pii II and Pii III, while the second, wider asteroid field lay between the fifth and sixth planets, with a more erratic orbital pattern.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Pii sun was first mentioned in "The Greel Wood Haven," an article written by C. Robert Carey and featured in the sixth issue of Star Wars Adventure Journal, a roleplaying magazine that was published by West End Games for their Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The issue released in May of 1995.[2] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Pii system, and therefore its sun, in grid square R-16.[1]

In addition, The Essential Guide to Warfare depicts that same section of the hyperlane as still being a part of the Corellian Run by 11,000 BBY.
