A picket cruiser was a capital ship classification that was used by the Kilji Illumine, the nation of the Kilji species. The Kilji picket cruisers were shorter than the Kilji war cruisers while being of a similar size to that of a Chiss heavy cruiser. The ships of war were equipped with engines, a hyperdrive, electrostatic barriers to protect their hulls, and armed with spectrum lasers.[1] In 18 BBY,[2] Illumine officer Colonel Tildnis commanded the Kilji picket cruiser Hammer as part of Kilji General Crofyp's task force.[1]

Picket cruisers appeared in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, written by Timothy Zahn as part of his Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
