Phobium
- "Phobium was mined by Emperor Palpatine on Gargon. And there's only one thing I know of that he ever used it for: to coat the power core of the Death Star."
- ―Admiral Ackbar
Phobium was an metal alloy[2] mined on the planets Gargon,[1] Dor,[3] and Bonadan.[4]
It was first discovered many millennia before the Galactic Civil War for use in power cells. Jedi Knights would sometimes use phobium power cells and emitters for their lightsabers.[5] During the Galactic War, between Galactic Republic and Sith Empire, phobium was used to build armors and weapons.[6]
During the early years of the Galactic Civil War, Emperor Palpatine stationed work crews on Gargon to mine the element. The ore on Dor was processed and mixed with doonium compounds, which in turn were used to coat the power core of the[1] two Death Stars.[2]
