A pentabat was a small creature that lived on Sophros. They had five legs and small wings that were tipped with claws. Their shell was hard and iridescent. They attacked in swarms and left a smell of burnt sulfur when ignited. A group of them attacked the Luminous Nine after their shuttle crash-landed on Sophros.[1]

Pentabats were mentioned in the 2025 novel The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi, written by Charles Soule as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[2]
