The Penal Oversight Committee was a political committee within the Galactic Republic's senate active during the time of the Clone Wars against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. It was vital and responsible for ensuring both the safety and security of prisoners as well as their legal treatment.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Penal Oversight Committee was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[1] The Penal Oversight Committee was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a 2011 massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by BioWare.[2]
