- "There was blaster fire over Mos Eisley. The occupation was over."
- ―Sheriff Cobb Vanth
Following the death of Emperor Sheev Palpatine at the Battle of Endor, parades broke out on the desert planet Tatooine.[5] The Imperial Military also withdrew from Tatooine, ending their planetary occupation, and other celebrations broke out. Celebratory blaster fire was shot over Mos Eisley while some citizens of Mos Pelgo gathered in its cantina, cheering at a holographic recording of the destruction of the DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station. The celebration in Mos Pelgo was cut short by the arrival of the Mining Collective, taking advantage of the sudden power vacuum on Tatooine and occupying the town to be their slave camp. However, mere days later, Mos Pelgo was liberated by[2] its sheriff,[4] Cobb Vanth.[2]
Behind the scenes
The parades on Tatooine made its first appearance in the DVD version of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, in a redone sequence for the ending of the film, showing the Galaxy celebrating Emperor Palpatine's death.[1]
