- "Of course. I haven't heard of Grand Admiral Thrawn, either. Certainly not in connection with the Chimaera. Or with some intriguing information raids on several systems in the Paonnid/Obroa-skai region, either."
- ―Talon Karrde
The Paonnid were a sentient species from the Paonid system. In 9 ABY, while wandering on a marketplace on the planet of Bimmisaari, the New Republic hero Han Solo spotted a being who looked like a Paonnid among the crowd.[1]
They produced extrassa art similar to the Saffa paintings and the pre-Empire Vaathkree flatsculp.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Paonnid, the Paonid system and the Paonidd extrassa art were first mentioned in the novel Heir to the Empire, which used instinctively the spellings Paonnid and Paonidd.[1] Likely for simplification, later sources only used the spelling Paonid.[2][3][4]
