The Pacifist faction, simply known as the Pacifists, was a political faction within the Galactic Republic Senate that consisted of an assortment of miserable Core Worlds star systems that were in opposition to increasing taxes and was against the centralized power granted by the Military Creation Act. Members of the faction typically opposed the Clone Wars and on average voted against expanding the powers of government.[1]

Pacifists were in favor of allowing planets to peacefully leave the Republic, believing that the hardness of life outside the control of the Republic would bring the worlds back to the Republic and accept less favorable terms. The Council of Neutral Systems was an outlier political wing of the Pacifists,[1] and consisted of 1,500 star systems that wished to stay neutral in the Clone Wars.[2] The Secessionist Faction was an extreme wing of the Pacifists, and was made up of opportunistic systems threatening to leave the Republic for better influence as well as systems considering seceding.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Pacifist faction first appeared in 2010 in twelfth episode of the second season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, titled "The Mandalore Plot."[2] It was later identified in the Fantasy Flight Games canon roleplaying rulebook Rise of the Separatists, which was released in 2019.[1]
