Overlord was the title held by leaders or high-ranking individuals within various organizations.[2][3][4]

In the Pre-Republic era, Overlord (Kral) was the title of the political leader of the planet Shikaakwa.[5] Overlord (Sith'ari) was a title chosen by the Sith King Adas of Korriban.[2] Xim the Despot also held the title of overlord.[3]

During the Imperial Era, Overlord was a rank of governor in the Galactic Empire.[4] The title was also held by several officers of the Death Watch during the Galactic Civil War.[6][7] The leader of the Rak'qua tribe was also known as an overlord.[8] Lord Malameu Toda of Tammuz-an used the title of "overlord of the outer territories."[9] After the Battle of Endor, Moruth Doole wore the title of overlord as he ruled the planet Kessel.[10]

When not used as a formal title, the term overlord was sometimes used to designate powerful crime lords.[11][12][13] Moreover, the designation of overlord was frequently used to qualify the Hutts as they control entire worlds and dominate their inhabitants while being crime lords and slavers at the same time.[14][15][16]
