- "The local ground vehicle in the courtyard, did you recognize it?"
"Not really, should I?"
"It appeared to be an ore carrier of some sort, its surface was marked by dirt and stone damage." - ―Thrawn to Anakin Skywalker
Ore carriers were carriers utilized to carry ore.[1] In 19 BBY,[4] Duke Solha utilized an ore carrier to transport cortosis obtained on his cortosis mine to his droid factory to manufacture cortosis B2 super battle droids for the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[2]
Behind the scenes
Ore carriers were first mentioned in the Canon continuity in the 2017 novel Thrawn, written by Timothy Zahn and published by Del Rey.[1] They made their first full appearance in the sequel to Thrawn, Thrawn: Alliances, which was also written by Zahn and published by Del Rey in 2018.[2]
Ore carriers made their Star Wars debut in the Legends continuity, created by John Terra and introduced in Twin Stars of Kira, a 1993 supplement to West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[5] Their first full appearance was in Dark Times—Fire Carrier 2,[6] the twenty-fourth issue of the Star Wars: Dark Times comic series published on March 6, 2013[7]
