Manufactured by Sienar Fleet Systems,[1] Onyx 2 was an Imperial Navy TIE/D Defender which was part of a limited production run of its class.[2] The TIE/D Defender was an experimental[3] starfighter, and as testing for its prototype indicated the need for a more powerful hyperdrive, such a hyperdrive was added to Onyx 2's production model. During the Galactic Civil War, Onyx 2 was part of the Imperial Onyx Squadron. The Defender's crew consisted of a TIE pilot.[2] By 4 ABY,[4] Onyx 2 was piloted by Yorr,[2] a respected Imperial test pilot holding the rank of captain by that year.[5]
Behind the scenes
Onyx 2 was introduced on a card in 2000's Death Star II Limited expansion set of the Decipher Star Wars Customizable Card Game.[2]
