The Oni were a sentient species native to the planet Uru. They were a militant species who were often known to work off-planet as mercenaries. Female Oni were electrophoretic and could store static electricity in a unique capacitor gland within their bodies. This species' members included a female mercenary who was a patient of Lieutenant Kornell Divini's on Drongar.[1]
Behind the scenes
According to Joseph Bongiorno, this species was intended by MedStar II: Jedi Healer authors Michael Reaves and Steve Perry as a reference to the Oni species of Oniboshi in the Japanese anime and manga series Urusei Yatsura by Rumiko Takahashi. As both species are militant, both species' females are shown to be capable of generating electricity, and the Star Wars Oni come from Uru as in Urusei, this would indeed seem to be likely.[2]
