Omchro was a male individual from[1] the planet[2] Abednedo who lived during the reign of the Galactic Republic. Omchro once called for a strike after the deaths of forty-two workers, which resulted in him being detained by the Mining Guild for three months. In his waning years, Omchro produced a series of oil paintings of his cell, with each painting depicting the cots, walls, and door from a different angle.[1]
In 19 BBY, the Republic was reorganized into the Galactic Empire.[2] That year,[3] Senator Mon Mothma was taken into custody by Imperial security officers on the planet Coruscant. While waiting to be interrogated, Mothma thought about several Republic political figures who she considered to have been wrongly imprisoned, including Omchro, and felt that she was not like them and had not sacrificed as much as they had.[1]
Behind the scenes
Omchro was mentioned in Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear, a 2025 novel written by Alexander Freed as the first installment of the Star Wars: Reign of the Empire trilogy.[1]

Star Wars: Edge of the Abyss on Penguin Books' official United Kingdom website (backup link) establishes the events of Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear take place thirteen years before the events of Reign of the Empire: Edge of the Abyss.
Rebecca Roanhorse (@rebeccaroanhorse) on Instagram (post): "Title and updated release date of my upcoming STAR WARS novel announced at SDCC. THE EDGE OF THE ABYSS takes place a year before Andor S1." (backup link) states that Edge of the Abyss takes place a year before the events of Andor Season 1, which are set in 5 BBY per the reasoning here. Therefore, the events of Edge of the Abyss must be set in 6 BBY, and the events of The Mask of Fear in 19 BBY.
