An old-style bread oven was a type of oven used to cook bread.[1] It consisted of a rectangular, cream-colored body with a gray panel in the top left corner of the front face with an alcove below it. On the right side of the device's front face was a series of red and green lights.[2] The home of the enslaved humans Shmi Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker, located on Slave Quarters Row in the city of Mos Espa on the planet Tatooine, had an old-style bread oven installed on the kitchen counter when the Skywalkers hosted a group of offworlders during a sandstorm[1] in 32 BBY.[3]
Behind the scenes
An old-style bread oven appeared in the 1999 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.[2] In the current Star Wars canon, the item was first identified in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations.[1] The name originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where the oven was identified in the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, which was written by Kristin Lund.[4]
