Obsidian was a material. Fortress Vader on Mustafar[1] was a tower built out of obsidian[2] and his helmet was made from an obsidian and durasteel alloy.[3] The cavern wall of the Mirror cave was made from the obsidian.[4]

In lightsabers

Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities at Black Spire Outpost on Batuu offered a variety of kyber crystals for sale in small capsules. Very rarely, a capsule supposed to contain a red crystal was instead found to contain a fragment of obsidian. These unique obsidian shards had been mined from dark side shrines and were infused with the power of the dark side of the Force. As a result, the shards had gained similar properties to red kyber crystals, and when inserted into a lightsaber, they would produce a red blade.[5]

The planet Oba Diah had obsidian on it, as Mok Shaiz's majordomo stated that he one day wished to see the great obsidian cliffs of Oba Diah with his own eyes, in an attempt to please the Pykes who were about to attack Tatooine.[6]
