Oaka Prime was a wildlife preserve planet[2] in the far corners of the Inner Rim, near the Unknown Regions.[1] Under the Infinite Empire of the Rakata, Oaka Prime was designated as a nature reserve, kept apart from the conflicts with the Gree and the Kwa, but it fell into obscurity after the collapse of the Empire. The nascent Galactic Republic later confirmed the planet’s protected status, which was maintained for several tens of thousands of years. Many of the species that lived on Oaka Prime were rare or already extinct elsewhere.[2]
By the time of the Galactic Empire, the world was considered a mythical place and served as the setting for many children’s stories. Numerous children also imagined their own adventures on Oaka Prime, among them the future Rebel agent Seren Song and Princess Leia Organa. Shortly after the Battle of Yavin, the planet’s orbit served as a meeting point for Organa and Song, where the crew of the Millennium Falcon managed to rescue the agent from the assassin droid bounty hunter IG-88B.[2]
