Nysillin plants growing on Felucia
- "They're growing healing herbs."
"Nysillin, I believe, one of the most valuable crops in the galaxy." - ―Ahsoka Tano and Obi-Wan Kenobi
Nysillin was a healing herb grown on Felucia and known to be harvested by Casiss and his farming community at the time of the Clone Wars. A band of pirates led by Hondo Ohnaka harassed the village into giving them the valuable crop, leading Casiss to hire a group of bounty hunters to drive off the pirates.[1] Later, the Nuro Pirates led by Yorn Nuro started a nysillin farm, fighting against the Republic.[2] During the Imperial Era, Impact spice was derived from nysillin.[3]
Behind the scenes
Nysillin first appeared in "Bounty Hunters," the seventeenth episode of the second season of the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The episode was directed by Steward Lee, written by Carl Ellsworth, and first aired on April 2, 2010. There is a discrepancy in the episode on what the plant was called. On entering the farm and seeing the plants, Obi-Wan Kenobi called it "nysillin," but Casiss called their work "sillum farming." It is possible that "sillum" is a slang term. Another aspect is that in the episode Obi-Wan refers to Nysillin is "One of the most valuable crops in the galaxy" yet the farmer Casiss refers to it as a "Meager trade."[1]
According to the episode guide, Nysillin is farmed in the "spice farming village,"[4] but in the episode itself it's a "healing herb."[1]
