- "My cousin was taken away to the Jedi Temple when I was young, and our family was honored."
- ―Nynik, to Imri Cantaros and Yacek Sparkburn
A Force-sensitive individual who lived during the High Republic Era was the cousin of the Rodian female Nynik.[1] By 228 BBY,[2] when Nynik was young, the cousin was taken from their family by the Jedi Order to the Jedi Temple on[1] the Core Worlds[3] planet Coruscant because of their Force-sensitivity, leaving the family proud.[1]
That year,[2] while Nynik lived on[1] the Outer Rim[4] planet Aricho, the Rodian became part of the Arichoan defense force. When President Orenna Sala went missing, Jedi Knights Imri Cantaros and Yacek Sparkburn were sent to investigate, and met with Captain Jonas Carper and two other members of the defense force, one being Nynik. After being introduced to the two Jedi Knights, the Rodian told them about their cousin being taken to the Jedi Temple and the honor it brought their family.[1]
Behind the scenes
Nynik's cousin was mentioned in the 2025 junior novel The High Republic: A Valiant Vow, written by Justina Ireland as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[5]
