- "A thousand Novian rubies to the man who brings me the girl!"
- ―Krag orders his men
Novian rubies were a form of currency[1] from the Novi system[1][2] used by the Zorbian space pirates.[1] In 3 ABY,[3] when the Zorbians invaded the Ewoks' Bright Tree Village on the Forest Moon of Endor, the Ewok Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka bit the leader of the Zorbians, Krag, who angrily promised a thousand Novian rubies to whoever brought him Kintaka.[1]
Behind the scenes
Novian rubies were mentioned in the second issue of the Ewoks comic series, which was written by David Manak and published by Marvel Comics[1] on April 2, 1985.[4]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Novian rubies in relation to the Novi system.
