Nopsin was a planet[3] located in the Nopsin system, a part of the freestanding subsectors portion of the Mid Rim.[1] At one point by approximately 3642 BBY,[4] the reconstituted Sith Empire carried out the operation known as the Cleansing of Nopsin there.[5]
Nopsin at some point became the third and final planet settled by members of the sentient Tren species[3] from[6] the Opitha Tren system.[7] After the establishment of the Galactic Empire[3] in 19 BBY,[8] Nopsin overwhelmingly voted in favor of joining that state, which led the remaining Tren resistance movements to give up any hope of persuading the Tren to join the Rebel Alliance. At the time, the young Tren idealist Opit-Wenbruh—who was fifty-eight years old by the time of the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Alliance—was serving in Nopsin's military, going on to serve with the Rebellion after his service with the former ended.[3]
Behind the scenes
- "General, I served under you at the Cleansing of Nopsin."
- ―A possible line of dialogue by Pierce to Greist in Star Wars: The Old Republic
Nopsin was first mentioned in an installment of the Cracken's Rebel Operatives series of articles that was published in the November 1996 eleventh issue of West End Games' Star Wars Adventure Journal magazine. The article was written by C. Robert Carey and Trevor J. Wilson.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Nopsin system, and thereby Nopsin itself, in grid square I-15.[2] In an optional conversation in the 2011 BioWare video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, the Sith Warrior player character's companion character Pierce can mention the Cleansing of Nopsin to their former superior officer, General Greist.[5]

This article treats the Opitha Tren system as the location of one such homeworld with regard to the Tren species.
