Nikk Zavod was a Human male who worked as a bounty hunter. He claimed to know the location of Chewbacca, whom he intended to collect the bounty on. Needing a ship, he seduced Mala Mala, lured her to enter the exhaust of her own ship while he was in the cockpit, and blasted off.
She was badly burned by the blast and abandoned for dead by her companions but survived due to the intervention of Chewbacca, who brought her to a ship's medical bay. She was physically and mentally scarred by the experience, vowing never to trust another organic (save Chewbacca) again.
