Needa Kame was an Iktotchi Jedi Master of the Jedi Order during the Republic Era. Around 900 BBY, Master Kame took a leave of absence from active duty in order to meditate and study the Force on the moon Iktotch. There, Kame constructed a retreat in the mountains, where he worked on a means to aid in the telekinesis abilities of Force-sensitive Iktotchi, which did not come naturally to members of that species. Over the years, Kame became a grandfatherly figure to the children of a village nearby, whose inhabitants frequently brought supplies and food in exchange for advice or out of kindness.[1]
Kame developed the Herder's Gauntlets over this timeframe, through years of frustration which resulted in a breakthrough when he was visited by the nearby village children. Kame realized that his gauntlets were as advanced as they ever would be, but his application of the Force was lacking: in order to reach his full telekinetic potential he only needed to recenter himself in the Force.[1]
Personality and traits
Kame, an Iktotchi, was considered to have a gentle soul and a sparkling sense of humor, which allowed him to make the children of a nearby Iktotchi village come to consider him as an eccentric grandfather when before they looked upon him with fear. He was determined to craft a solution to the problem Force-sensitive Iktotchi had with telekinesis, completing his creation of the Herder's Gauntlets while performing simple sleight-of-hand tricks with those same village children.[1]
