- "Drowning my sorrows in a pint of nectoral syrup."
- ―An Ithorian
Nectoral syrup was a dark-colored beverage enjoyed by some Ithorians, particularly as a way of easing emotional pain. It could be consumed with a straw and was usually served in an individual glass. An Ithorian once drowned his sorrows in a pint of nectoral syrup.[1]
Behind the scenes
Nectoral syrup was first mentioned and pictured in "Musings of an Ithorian," a segment written by Bob Carrau for the 1993 book Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas, a publication that combines creature designs and photographs from various projects of George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars franchise, with original text by Carrau.[2] Lucasfilm employee Leland Chee, who maintains the Holocron continuity database, has indicated that information contained in the book is non-canonical with respect to the Star Wars Legends continuity.[3]
In 2007, the drink was made canonical with the publishing of Musings of an Ithorian, a reprint of the 1993 article, on Hyperspace, a fan club which offered exclusive content to subscribers until it was discontinued.[1]
