- "This is yours. I've been hearing of the Ewok who writes tales in this tree—a future Storykeeper, they say."
"That is me—I am called Nanta." - ―Romba and Nanta, on the carvings on Nanta's tree
Nanta's tree was a tree in Bright Tree Village on the forest moon Endor where Nanta—an Ewok who aspired to become a Storykeeper—recorded his stories by carving them into the tree's bark. Located near the Hut of Healing, Nanta discovered it after injuring himself on a sharp stone and then used the stone to begin writing on its trunk. After Nanta's death in the Battle of Endor[1] in 4 ABY,[2] Nanta's friend Romba went to the tree and compiled many of the stories carved onto it into the "The Ballad of Nanta," which became a legendary Ewok tale.[1]
Behind the scenes
Nanta's tree appeared in the 2023 short story "The Ballad of Nanta," written by Sarah Kuhn and published in the anthology From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi.[1]
