The nank fly was an aggressive, stinging insect known to carry some diseases that could prove harmful or fatal to Humans but were harmless to Ugnaughts. They could be found in abundance on the Ugnaught Surface due to an Alderaanian transport crashing on the Surface.[1]
Chefs and Ugnaughts described nank larvae, or nanklings,[2] as a rare delicacy, often being flash-fried as one of the most popular items on the menu at Zavlabar's Gentes Grill.[1]
The phrase "nank-biters" was once used by Ars Fivvle to describe Imperials that had temporarily taken over Cloud City, but which the Ugnaughts had eventually helped fight off.[3]
