Mykal were large batlike creatures found on the planet Kashyyyk that, when seen, were prone to attack. Revan and his companions fought many of these creatures while on the Great Walkway.[1]
Mykal were aerial predators found in the huge, sprawling forests of Kashyyyk. They built large nests and attack almost anything that they spot. Some mykal grew to enormous size and were found only in the deepest, most ancient portions of the wilderness, but they were most common in the middle to upper canopies, which is where the Wookiees built their treehouse cities. Mykal eggs were nutritious and tasty, and were considered a delicacy by most sentients. However, acquiring them was quite a challenge, considering that mykal nests are found hundreds of meters above the forest floor.[2]
Mykal were an important part of the Kashyyyk ecosystem since they were responsible for keeping the numbers of kinrath in check. Despite this, the Wookiees considered mykal pests and shot them on sight.[2]
