Mushroom Mesa was a cluster of mesas located near the city of Mos Espa on the planet Tatooine. At the time of the Invasion of Naboo, Mushroom Mesa was part of the Boonta Eve Classic podracing circuit, forcing racers such as Anakin Skywalker to maneuver around the obstacles.[1] Years later, Skywalker's son, Luke, piloted through Mushroom Mesa in his T-16 Skyhopper.[2] Certain experienced racers believed that the faces that could be discerned in the stones of the mesa could change expressions depending on the angle of view.[3]
The Tusken Raiders were believed by some to know the secret of the Mesa. Whether they did or not is unknown, but they avoided the region "as if it were cursed."[3]

Mushroom Mesa first appeared in the 1999 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.[1]
