Murglaks were known to the Hutt Skarabda.[1] In 228 BBY,[2] during the High Republic Era, ships of the Hutt Cartel, including Skarabda's[1] dreadcruiser Neeka-Ranga,[3] arrived to reinforce the Galactic Republic Stormwall Defense Fleet, which was participating in the Battle of Eriadu against the Nihil[1] marauders.[4] Skarabda announced their presence to Jedi Master Keeve Trennis, who was surprised to hear her, before the Hutt noted that the Hutt Cartel had had enough of the Nihil, who she referred to as murglaks. Shortly after, the Nihil surrendered, ending the battle and its conflict with the Republic and Jedi Order.[1]

Behind the scenes

Murglaks were mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the fifth issue of the 2025 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic – Fear of the Jedi, released as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III.[5] The issue was written by Cavan Scott and published by Marvel Comics on June 4, 2025.[6]

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, murglark was an epithet or derogatory term[7] first used in "Deal with a Demon," a comic story published in the third issue of the 2000 comic series Star Wars Tales. The story was written by John Ostrander and published by Dark Horse Comics on March 29, 2000.[8]
