Munka was a type of salt that could be found on the planet Tatooine. It was worth very little on a galactic scale, but on the dusty desert world it was considered to be as valuable as gold.[1]
The crime lady Valarian had attempted to coerce a family of munka miners to sell their mines for years[1] prior to 4 ABY.[2] Eventually, Valarian's rival Jabba Desilijic Tiure, also envious of the mines, kidnapped the family's son in a bid to force the miners to hand over their property.[1]
