A Motivation actuator was a mechanic droid component that controlled the droids movement that cost 150 credits[1] in 3 ABY.[2]
In 3 ABY,[2] the thief Kay Vess meant Saya's R5 droid malfunctioning outside of Saya's house in Jaunta's Hope, a town on the Outer Rim moon Toshara. After talking to the droid and getting a translation from a nearby human, she learned that the droid needed a new motivation actuator. Vess would later buy an actuator from a scrap merchant named Heren Gallack that operated out of Jaunta's Hope. After she returned and installed the new actuator into the droid, the droid allowed her into Saya's house, where Vess stole her stash.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Star Wars Outlaws depiction of a motivation actuator resembles the Legends character, M-TD.
Motivation actuators first appeared in the canon continuity in 2024 Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws. It was a quest item in the intel quest "Motivation actuator" which allows the player to retrieve Saya's stash.[1]
Motivation actuators originally appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity in the 1995 Ambush at Corellia novel by Roger MacBride Allen.[3]
The menu graphic representing the motivation actuator in Star Wars Outlaws is visually identical to the miniaturized translator droid known as M-TD, a droid from the Star Wars: Young Jedi Knights novels in the Legends continuity.
