Mos Taike was a settlement[2] built on the western edge of the Northern Dune Sea on the north side of the Mospic High Range in the small habitable region in the northern hemisphere of the desert planet Tatooine. It stood eight kilometers (five miles) southeast of the settlement of Mos Entha, with the settlement of Mos Espa standing 20 kilometers (12.5 miles) away from Mos Taike in the same direction.[1]
In 0 BBY,[3] the Jawa sandcrawler[1] commanded by Chief Nebit[4] planned to pass through Mos Taike as part of a circuit it traveled; however, the vehicle never reached the settlement as the Jawas on board were killed by Imperial stormtroopers part way through their route.[1]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, Mos Taike was first mentioned in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations.[1] The settlement originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, which was written by Kristin Lund with illustrations by Richard Chasemore and Hans Jenssen.[5] It then appeared for the first time in Legends in the 2003 massively multiplayer online roleplaying game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided.[6]
