The Monument to the Ones[1] was an ancient[3] monument depicting the Ones, also known as the Mortis gods, located on the extragalactic planet of Peridea. The sculpture was carved into the face of a rocky mountain, overlooking a valley. The Father was depicted with his arm outstretched, pointing toward a snowy mountain range on the opposite side of the valley. The sculpture of the Son stood on the Father's left.[2] A sculpture of the Daughter[4] stood to the Father's right, but was missing its head.[2] In 9 ABY,[5] former Jedi Knight Baylan Skoll traveled to the sculpture, in search of something he sensed "stirring" on the planet.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Monument to the Ones first appeared in the eight and last episode of the first season of the live-action television series Star Wars: Ahsoka, directed by series' creator Dave Filoni[2] and released on October 3, 2023.[6] It was then later first identified in the 2024 reference book Star Wars Encyclopedia: The Comprehensive Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy.[1] A sketch drawn by Filoni that was revealed at the official announcement of Ahsoka Season 2 showed Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren standing on top of the outstretched index finger of the Father overlooking Peredia.[7]
The statue of the Father with it's outstretched hand is reminiscent of the statues, named the Gates of Argonath or Pillars of the Kings, that are standing at the shores of the river Anduin at the entrance of the lands of Gondor in the The Lord of the Rings novels by J. R. R. Tolkien[8] and it's film adaptions,[9] of which Filoni is a fan of and which have served as inspiration for Ahsoka Tano in the series.[10] Similarly, other parts of Peredia like the Great Mothers' Fortress and the general terrain of the grasslands are also reminiscent[2] of the depictions of Gondor.[9]

"A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 dates the events of "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Star Wars: Timelines. Preceding episodes, also take place in that year, since they take place after Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, which is dated to 9 ABY according to Timelines. As "Part Eight: The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord" takes place shortly after Part Seven, the events of Ahsoka as a whole must all take place within the same year.
