"As a s scavenger, your tools are your life. Here's what's in my satchel […] bag of quick-switch modulars, including everything from Mon Calamari hex-clamps to cruciform Verpine ratchets"
―Rey lists her tools in her survival guide[1]

Mon Calamari hex-clamps,[1] also written as Mon Calamari hex clamp,[2] were a type of clamp made by the Mon Calamari[1] species.[3] The scavenger Rey began carrying Mon Calamari hex-clamps and cruciform Verpine ratchets after finding herself in an X-wing starfighter on the desert planet Jakku where she was unable to salvage a cache of batteries because she lacked the implements. For at least two years[2] she carried the clamps in a bag of quick-switch modulars that she kept in her satchel and included them on a list of her tools in a survival guide she compiled[1] by 34 ABY.[4]

Behind the scenes

Mon Calamari hex-clamps were first mentioned in Rey's Survival Guide, a 2015 replica journal written by Jason Fry.[1]
