A Jedi outpost of the Jedi Order was located on[1] the Outer Rim planet[2] Mon Cala during the High Republic Era. The outpost—to fit into the waterworld's environment and culture—was built as a gigantic raft grown out of coralite, with kelp dangling from the underside. As it drifted with the currents, the outpost provided a reeflike habitat for local sea creatures.[1] In 232 BBY,[3] Jedi Padawan Bell Zettifar, who was stationed at the Elphrona Outpost, reflected that he would have been happier with the Mon Cala posting due to the comparably harsh environment of the Outer Rim planet Elphrona.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Jedi outpost on Mon Cala was mentioned in Light of the Jedi, a 2021 novel written by Charles Soule as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[4]
