The Model 80 Blaster Pistol was a type of blaster pistol manufactured by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc., and was an old standby for planetary defense forces, militias, and mercenary units. It traded on its stopping power, rugged durability, and customizability, and was among the heaviest and bulkiest blaster pistols in its class.[1]
Although the Model 80 was lauded for its combat reliability, peacetime soldiers despised the oversized blaster pistol. Many military trainees joked about their "standard issue Model 80 limp" after a long forced march, where it would bounce on their hips. The Model 80's frame integrated a scope that was notoriously difficult to remove, and had a tendency to get caught on most standard holsters, which could have lethal consequences while drawing under fire.[1]
