The Mk IV Flat Twin Turbojet was a model of podracer engine produced by Manta RamAir.[1] The engines consisted of a flat body with a tapered front leading to an opening, and two tubular openings at the rear. Glymphid podracer Aldar Beedo used a podracer with a pair of Mk IV Flat Twin Turbojet engines during the Boonta Eve Classic podrace[2] in 32 BBY.[3]
Beedo's engines were painted blue with green patterning and the rear tubes painted red.[2] Beedo finished the race with a time of 15.52:108 and averaged 845 kilometers per hour (528 miles per hour).[4]
Behind the scenes
Mk IV Flat Twin Turbojets were created for the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace,[5] which released on May 19, 1999.[6] In the new Star Wars canon, the engines were identified in Endless Vigil, a 2016 supplement for the Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game written by Tim Huckelberry and James M. Spahn and released by Fantasy Flight Games.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the engines were first identified as MARK IV Flat-Twin Turbojets in the video game Star Wars: Episode I Racer,[7] which was released on the same day as The Phantom Menace.[8]
