Mitth welcoming ceremonies were ceremonies held by the Mitth family in the Chiss Ascendancy. It was a common and brief event held to welcome new Mitth adoptees into the family[2] and included a rematching dinner. The event was formal, similar in formality to the Stybla honoring ceremonies; the clothing was formal, as well as the people. Many people attending were politicians and therefore spoke in reserved tones.[1]
Kivu'raw'nuru, core name "Vurawn," underwent the ceremony[1] sometime around 39 BBY.[3] Detaching him from the Kivu family and rematching him with the Mitth would change his name to Mitth'raw'nuruodo ("Thrawn").[2] During the ceremony, Thrawn first met Mitth'ras'safis ("Thrass"), whom he would later regard as a brother.[1]
Behind the scenes
Mitth welcoming ceremonies were first mentioned in the 2020 book Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising by Timothy Zahn,[2] but they were not named until the release of Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, which came out the next year.[1]
