Mission to Benglor

The title of this article is conjectural. Although this article is based on canonical information, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

During the early stages of the Clone Wars^[3] in 22 BBY,^[1] Jedi General Anakin Skywalker led a mission to investigate Confederacy of Independent Systems activity on the planet Benglor. Skywalker and his clone troopers of the 501st Legion discovered traces of Separatist battle droids, but they were attacked by a hostile creature that killed a trooper named Bellow. Skywalker ordered Clone Captain Rex to escort the troopers to safety, but Rex later returned to assist Skywalker and helped defeat the creature.^[2]

The mission

Anakin Skywalker, Captain Rex and members of the 501st Legion undertook a mission to the planet Benglor. While walking through a forest, everyone complained about the hot temperature. Hardcase found some goo and hoped it would be a clue to help understand what the Confederacy of Independent Systems was doing on the planet. Bellow then located the head of a B1-series battle droid as more soldiers also found more battle droid parts. Bellow found more goo, but unbeknownst to him, a large quadruped was behind him. Anakin ignited his lightsaber and warned Bellow, but it was too late. The creature picked up Bellow and ate him.^[2]

Anakin ordered everyone to fall back, but Hardcase charged at the creature, which swiftly tossed him aside. Anakin ordered Rex to take his men to safety while he would stay behind to rescue Hardcase. As the quadruped went in for the kill, Anakin stopped the creature in its tracks with the Force, which allowed Hardcase to escape. After Hardcase escaped, Anakin squared off against the quadruped but was knocked into a tree. Anakin threw his lightsaber at another tree, which cut it down in such a way that it fell onto the creature. Anakin casually walked away, but the creature got back up and launched itself at Anakin. Before it could reach Anakin, it was shot down by Rex and his fellow clone troopers. Rex gave Anakin the idea of throwing his lightsaber at the leg of the creature, which pacified it. Rex and Anakin walked away, and Anakin told him that he and the other troopers were more than just clones to him.^[2]

Aftermath

Sometime after the mission, a siege took place on the planet Hisseen between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Clone troopers were defending a village from an assault by the Separatist Droid Army. Jedi Generals Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Plo Koon came to help the clone troopers and were able to repel the attack. The Jedi then left to go locate Count Dooku and Asajj Ventress but first sent a transmission requesting backup for the clones.^[2]
