The Merthia system was located in the Expansion Region's Merthian sector.[1] It shared its name with the Merthian lung infection, a fictitious disease invented at some point during the Galactic Civil War by the smuggler Roark Garnet in order to prevent Tax Inspector Mothra from searching[2] his[3] starship.[2]

Behind the scenes

The Merthia system was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square N-13.[4]
