"We live to kill and die. Everything else we do is beside the point. I serve the one true master…death itself. "
―Mekedrix[1]

Mekedrix was a human male who served in Roon's military defense forces and the Republic Military during the Clone Wars, holding the military rank of commander. He was stationed in the Roon system with Lieutenant Oron and a full company of Roonian soldiers during the early days of the war between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[3] Around the year 22 BBY,[4] Mekedrix's company was transferred to the 212th Attack Battalion, a battalion of clone troopers that served under Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and Clone Commander Cody.[3]

The 212th was split into two separate groups during the Battle of Abrion Bridge. Serving as the commanding officer of Attack-2, Commander Mekedrix led the assault on the bridge's northern side while Attack-1 concentrated on the southern side under General Kenobi's leadership. Although the Jedi and his clone troops accomplished their objective, the Separatist Droid Army completely routed Mekedrix's forces. Consequently, Kenobi's forces were nearly overwhelmed by the Confederacy military. While the battle ended in a Republic victory, the cost was great,[3] with Kenobi noticing that Mekedrix seemed hollow after the battle. At some point, Mekedrix served alongside Kenobi's friend and fellow Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, but he again displayed the look of someone traumatized by the war.[1]

Following the massacre at the Temple of Eedit on Devaron, Mekedrix disappeared. Mekedrix went rogue and became leader of the Death Wind execution squad. Admiral Wullf Yularen believed that war broke him in a irreparable way. Kenobi and Skywalker were sent to capture him on Ando in the planet's swamplands. Mekedrix was found at an ancient temple. There, he refused Kenobi and Skywalker's request to return to Coruscant to stand for his crimes. He claimed that he showed his victims the "truth" that the war was a distraction. When Mekedrix jumped to attack, Skywalker, without thinking, stabbed the rogue soldier through the chest to protect Kenobi. Although Skywalker was horrified and had wanted to bring Mekedrix in alive, the man was calm in his final moments.[1]

Personality and traits

"War is just a distraction. A hypocritical game that denies its own real goal. The goal of our entire existence. Annihilation. […] I've finally found the "light" you claim to follow. It is a void. An eventuality, pulling us all inside it. Clones are created to serve death. The Confederacy rips apart the galaxy unwittingly in the service of death. Even you Jedi…your uncanny power… You call it the Force, but it is the death wind. The strength of the void itself."
―Mekedrix explains his philosophy[1]

Mekedrix came to believe that death was the true purpose of all existence.[1]

Equipment

"This sword was made from the bones of a clone trooper. Why let such a prime agent of death rot and waste away?"
―Mekedrix[1]

Mekedrix wielded a sword created from the bones of a clone trooper.[1]
