- «We're lost. I can't believe I let you talk me into coming here.»
- ―Meevid, to Manju
Meevid was a human scavenger who lived during the High Republic Era. In 132 BBY, Meevid hiked through a forest on the Outer Rim planet Khofar along with the scavenger Manju. There, the two scavengers encountered the Wookiee Jedi Kelnacca outside of a crashed starship being used as a shelter by the Jedi. Meevid drew his blaster on Kelnacca but fled after Kelnacca Force pulled it out of his hands.
Biography
- «A crashed ship! I bet there's a hyperdrive we can strip for parts.»
- ―Manju, to Meevid
The scavengers were unaware of the Wookiee's approach.
Meevid was a human scavenger active during the High Republic Era.[1] In 132 BBY,[4] Meevid, along with the scavenger Manju,[1] hiked through a forest on the Outer Rim[3] planet[1] Khofar[3] after being lured there by the many ships that had been caught in its dense vegetation.[1] As Meevid complained that they were lost and that[3] he[2] could not believe Manju had convinced him to go there, the two scavengers came across a crashed starship, which was actually the shelter of the Wookiee Jedi Kelnacca. After Manju suggested that they may be able to find a hyperdrive to strip for parts within the wreck, the scavengers noticed a sign[3] which read "Keep Out" in Shyriiwook,[5] but they were unable to read it. The pair were then approached by Kelnacca, who roared at them, causing Meevid to draw his blaster and aim it at the Wookiee. In response, Kelnacca Force pulled the blaster from Meevid's hands and broke it in two, causing the scavengers to flee.[3]
Personality and traits
Meevid was a human with graying brown hair and a beard, brown eyes, and light skin.[3] He was cowardly[2] and fled from Kelnacca.[3]
Skills and abilities
- «What does it say?"
"How should I know?» - ―Meevid and Manju, after noticing a sign written in Shyriiwook
Meevid spoke Huttese and could not read[3] Shyriiwook.[5]
Equipment
Meevid wore brown clothing and a black headband. He carried a blaster and wore equipment on his back.[3]
Behind the scenes
Overview
- "It's a different feeling altogether. The pure excitement. And again, I'm jumping around, but the bit that really hit for me was when I went in for the costume fitting. Because it felt like a Star Wars costume. We tried on a few different things and then it looked so cool. And this is before they've aged it up and dirtied it up and all that."
- ―Scroobius Pip
Storyboard by Jim Cornish
Meevid first appeared in "Revenge / Justice," the second episode of the 2024 Disney+ live-action series Star Wars: The Acolyte,[3] which aired on June 4, 2024.[7] He was portrayed by Scroobius Pip.[3] Meevid was identified in Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide, a 2025 reference book by Pablo Hidalgo.[1] The Khofar scenes including Meevid were shot at Shinfield Studios,[8] England.[9] Storyboards of the sequence including the scavenger were created by Jim Cornish.[10]
Pip was excited to be in Star Wars and was "jumping around" because of it. He was particularly excited about his costume, which he thought was "cool" and said "felt like a Star Wars costume. After trying on multiple costumes, his outfit was aged up and dirtied. During one take, Pip hit his shin on a rock on set and then had to pretend he was alright for the remainder of the takes. Kelnacca pulling away the scavenger's blaster was done by having someone stand on a ladder and pull it with string. It took multiple takes to get the angle correct, and during one take, the blaster was broken and had to be repaired. It was important to Pip that he did not meet Kelnacca actor[6] Joonas Suotamo[5] without his costume on, so he refused to go in communal areas on set. According to Pip, Director Leslye Headland said that the scene was the best shot in the episode.[6]

Auditions and dialogue
- "…It's a made-up language. But no, the stresses, the way you emphasize things, the stretching out certain bits is all established in the language."
- ―Scroobius Pip
Meevid was portrayed by Scroobius Pip.
Pip auditioned three times for multiple characters, including both scavengers, and said he believed the other roles he auditioned for were cut. Pip had to do a self-tape audition for the role while he had COVID-19, and because he was isolating, could not have someone else read lines with him. However, because he was auditioning for both characters in the scene, Pip recorded audio for both roles and then combined them into a single tape, which he believed made his audition stand out.[6]
Although the auditions were done in English, the final scene was done in Huttese, so Pip was given a dialect coach two weeks before the scene was filmed. Pip had to focus on stressing, emphasizing, and stretching out certain parts of the dialogue. Pip had difficulty learning his part, so his dialect coach suggested he turn it into a song or chant. Pip then spent an afternoon in his kitchen chanting his dialogue to remember it and then later tightened up the exact wording. After doing a number of takes in Huttese, a couple takes of the scene were done in English as a backup. Pip thought it would have been a shame if the scene had been done in English because it had been "cool" to learn the lines in Huttese and added that he no longer knew the English lines because of how long it had been since he auditioned.[6]
Pip originally had a line that was not initially used when filming the scene. However, when Pip came back a year later to rerecord his lines, he was asked to scream or make noise as he ran away, and he used the line that had been cut, which was saying "run away" in Huttese.[6] His Huttese dialogue was written by Hidalgo,[11] a member of the Lucasfilm Story Group.[12]
