Marngar III was a terrestrial celestial body[2] located in the Marngar system. It was a part of the Arrowhead, or the Slice portion of the Core Worlds.[1] During the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance, Marngar III was affiliated with the Empire and was the site of the Imperial University of Marngar III. That establishment was attended by the Human Benald Orlan from[2] the Core Worlds[3] astronomical object Quian, a fact that was later noted by the New Republic General Airen Cracken in an entry of the datafile Wanted by Cracken[2]—the initial version of which was published in 7 ABY[4]—dedicated to Orlan.[2]
Behind the scenes
Marngar III was mentioned in the "Wanted by Cracken" segment of the November 1994 fourth issue of West End Games' Star Wars Adventure Journal. The segment was authored by C. Robert Carey.[2] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Marngar system, and therefore Marngar III, in grid square M-10.[1]

"Wanted by Cracken" — Star Wars Adventure Journal 1 establishes that the "Wanted by Cracken" segment of the Star Wars Adventure Journal represents an in-universe update to the datafile Wanted by Cracken, the original version of which is presented in the sourcebook Wanted by Cracken. The latter work is dated to three years after the Battle of Endor, and since The New Essential Chronology dates that conflict to 4 ABY, the placement of the sourcebook therefore translates to 7 ABY.
