Malsarr was an ore that was present on Stroiketcy,[1] a gravitationally captured comet[2] in the Yavin system[1] of the Outer Rim Territories' Gordian Reach sector.[3] Along with heglum and iridium, malsarr was present at a high concentration in the form of suspension in Stroiketcy's partially frozen seas, which served as confirmation of both the waterworld's past as an object freely traveling through outer space and the highly dynamic nature of its seas.[1]
By the time between 0 ABY and 3 ABY,[4] a radical interpretation of Stroiketcy's geographical features and tidal patterns had been proposed that posited the existence of small islands of dry land on the comet's surface at a point in its orbit around its star, Yavin. Assuming the validity of that theory, a surveyor probe or a manned flight dispatched to Stroiketcy at that point held the potential of prospecting for malsarr ore deposits in the comet's bedrock.[1]
Behind the scenes
Malsarr was introduced in Galaxy Guide 2: Yavin and Bespin, a 1989 sourcebook published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[5]
