Magnacuffs, also known as magnetic binders,[2] were restraining magnetic cuffs[1] made of durasteel.[3] The cuffs incorporated micromagnetic fields that were used to hold the restraint bands in place,[1] acting as a secondary locking mechanism that made the cuffs hard to foil and effectively tripled the strength of the durasteel.[3] The locks used on magnacuffs were controlled by coded datachips, or fingerprint recognition.[1]
Magnacuffs were used to shackle specially strong individuals, such as the abnormally large Bitthævrian slave, Aul Tarrus Vishav.[4] The slaver Malak carried magnacuffs among her gear.[5]
Several models of magnacuffs were available, including Locris Syndicated Securities' MCI-100 magnacuffs[6] and TaggeCo.'s MagnaCuffs.[7]
