- "Although they were feared by these early Lothalites, over time, the residents grew to revere the wolves, speaking of them in oral histories and including the creatures in a popular children's rhyme."
- ―Ardis San Tekka in her personal bestiary
On[2] the Outer Rim[3] planet Lothal, the native Loth-wolves were featured in a popular rhyme for Lothalite children,[2] alongside Loth-rats and Loth-cats. The rhyme was recited as "Loth-rat, Loth-cat, Loth-wolf, run. Pick a path and all is done," and was used as a method of selection.[1] As a child, Lothalite Ezra Bridger was taught the rhyme by his mother prior to her imprisonment by the Galactic Empire[3] in 12 BBY.[4] Bridger recited the rhyme in two instances: to select one of three paths in the Lothal Jedi Temple when he was brought there by his Master Kanan Jarrus[1] in 4 BBY,[4] and again to decide which direction to go while on Lothal[5] in 1 BBY.[6] The Galactic Society of Creature Enthusiasts' Director of Creature Cartography Ardis San Tekka mentioned the rhyme in the Loth-wolf entry of her bestiary[2] at some point after the Battle of Exegol in 35 ABY.[7]
Behind the scenes
The Lothalite children's rhyme first appeared in "Path of the Jedi,"[1] the tenth episode of the first season of the animated television series Star Wars Rebels[8] which aired on January 5, 2015.[9]
