A locator or signal locator was a personal device that worked similar to a homing beacon and sent a signal allowing its location to be tracked. For example, when Jedi Treetower encountered trouble in the skies over Yorn Skot, High Orbit Precision Entry Squad used his locator to find the unconscious Jedi.
The Imperial Sector Police often had locator rings, rings with a locator device that could be worn on a humanoid's finger, to keep track of suspects.[1]
