"Laughter After Dark" is a short story written by Patricia A. Jackson that was originally published in Star Wars Adventure Journal 15 by West End Games in November 1997.

Plot summary

On the seventh anniversary of death of his beloved Saahir Ru'luv, smuggler Thaddeus Ross visits Reuther's Wetdock tavern and has a lonely sad drink. Ross remembers an unpleasant event when Saahir seduced him into transporting weaponry for the Rebel Alliance, a mission he wanted no part of. The mission turned sour when he discovered that Saahir was engaged to a Rebel commander. Though he was heartbroken and angry, his partner, Trep, convinced him to continue the mission for the credits. Tragedy followed when the Empire attacked the Rebel outpost just as they completed delivery of the cargo to Saahir and her fiancé. Saahir suffered mortal wounds and, with her dying breath, and in his arms, admitted she loved Ross all along and asked him to find the strength one day to forgive her. Seven years later, Ross finally does, mourning her loss.
