U9-C4 destroys a B1-series battle droid with his laser cutter.
A laser cutter was a laser tool that could be used to slice though almost any material, though it could also be used as a weapon. When in use, it generated a substantial recoil, which could knock its user backwards if not anchored.
During the Clone Wars, the astromech droid U9-C4 was outfitted with a concealed laser cutter for a mission to secure a Separatist encryption module.[1] The Decimator, a prototype Separatist droid, was also equipped with a laser cutter.[2]

Laser cutters first appeared in the first edition of Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, a 1987 Star Wars Legends roleplaying game published by West End Games.[3] They became canon when one appeared in "Secret Weapons," the tenth episode of the canon animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars' fifth season.[1]
