- "There is a local gang of teens called the Laser Flits. They are a relatively new gang operating here out of Mos Espa."
- ―Wald
The Laser Flits or Laserflits were a gang which operated out of a bunker on the edge of Mos Espa, a city located on the Outer Rim world of Tatooine during the time of the Galactic Civil War. Dressed in distinctive purple colored clothing, the armed gang of teenagers was responsible for occasional mischief. Sometime following the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY, the Laser Flits ambushed a delivery of swoop parts. This prompted Rodian W. Wald of Watto's Shop to hire a spacer to attack the Laser Flits and recover the stolen parts for a customer of his, a Human named Qord D'Baelor.
History
- "I have the location of their hideout. Recently they ambushed a delivery of swoop parts we were delivering to a customer. There were ten parts in all. I need you to recover those parts. Most likely you'll find the parts on these gang members. If you have to teach these kids a lesson to get the parts back, so be it."

Sometime following the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY, a relatively new gang began operations out of a bunker on the edge of Mos Espa, a city on the Outer Rim world of Tatooine. The gang, known as the Laser Flits,[1] shared a name with the flit, an aggressive species of flying reptiles native to the world of Lok.[2] From their hangout in Mos Espa, the Laser Flits were known to engage in general mayhem.[1]
In 1 ABY,[3] the Laser Flits ambushed a delivery of swoop parts from Watto's Shop, a Mos Espa junk shop under the ownership the Toydarian of Watto. This resulted in a considerable amount of woe for the Rodian W. Wald, an employee working for Watto. When Wald learned of the theft of his shipment, he tasked a spacer under his employ with entering the Laser Flit Hangout, and forcibly recovering all ten of the stolen swoop parts. The spacer succeeded in recovering the parts, but not without killing at least ten gang members during a violent blaster fight. Nevertheless, with the parts recovered, the delivery was finally completed when the spacer brought the shipment to Qord D'Baelor, a Human customer who frequented the bar inside Mos Espa Starport.[1]

The Laser Flits primarily comprised of teenagers, including a mix of male and female Humans, female Aqualish, and male Ishi Tib. All members of the gang wore some form of purple colored clothing, sometimes mixed with shades of blue or gray. Different styles of their clothing included tactical skinsuits worn beneath sleeveless or rugged jackets, muscle shirts worn with reinforced pants and cold weather jackets, or transport flight suits. Others wore more military-like garments, including basic camouflage pants and flex-form shirts worn beneath casual jackets with cargo pockets. Stylish dress uniform jackets worn with large pocket pants were another common dress combination. For protection, Laser Flits would often make use of padded armor boots and composite armor or Mabari armorweave gloves. The majority of the Human Laser Flit gang members sported avant-garde hairstyles, with most dyeing their hair purple. Members of the gang were armed with multiple types of blaster pistols and slugthrowers, including DL-18 Blaster Pistols, FWG-5 Flechette Smart Pistols, Striker projectile pistols, and SE-14 blaster pistols.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Laser Flits appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[4] They were added to the game as part of a quest titled "Wald's Woes" with the release of "Chapter 2: The Talus Incident," on August 1, 2006.[5] Players who performed the quest were tasked with entering the Laser Flit Hangout and killing Laser Flit gang members until recovering ten stolen swoop parts. While W. Wald referred to the gang as "Laser Flits" with a space between the two words, there were instances within the game where the gang was referred to as "Laserflits" without the space. For example, targeting or examining non-player character members of the gang identified them as "Laserflit gang members."[1]

Star Wars Galaxies (post-NGE) — Quest: "Wald's Woes" on Tatooine
- ↑ Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine
- ↑ The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
