Laminasteel,[2] also spelled as Lamina Steel, was a greenish-colored alloy that could be used in lightsaber construction.[1] In 14 BBY,[3] the fugitive Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis acquired enough lamina steel to fashion a lightsaber hilt.[1] Geonosian hive spires were constructed from solidified rock paste strengthened with a laminasteel framework.[4]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, laminasteel was first mentioned in Star Wars canon in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Rebel Files, written by Daniel Wallace.[2] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, laminasteel was first mentioned in The Art of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones a 2002 reference book written by Mark Cotta Vaz.[5] The substance made its first full appearance in "The Droid Deception," a comic story published in Star Wars: The Clone Wars Comic 6.4. The story was written by Robin Etherington, illustrated by Andres Ponce,[6] and released on February 4, 2010.[7]
